You want to keep the moisture content down to get a really good brown color on them and avoid steaming them instead, so instead of soaking your mushrooms, just wipe them down with a damp cloth.. Once your mushrooms are clean, trim the tough part from the end of each steam and then slice them thinly like this:.Time to Add the Sizzle.
Next, preheat a. large skillet.over medium-high heat and add in about 2 tablespoons of butter.Once the butter is melted and the pan is hot, add your mushrooms.
They should sizzle like crazy!Don’t add anything else at this point.
Just mushrooms and butter.
Adding salt at this point can turn them rubbery, so you want to get a really deep brown color on them first before you add anything else.If you look at the finished product, you can see I came up with a clever solution for this..
Your image will now appear to be a light grey.You can leave it like this, which looks perfectly nice, or if you want it a little darker, just color it in with a Sharpie!
